Get some rest..

So do you think it’s bad to fall asleep when praying?
Especially in the morning, you can’t help but think that you just lazy! That sleep must hold a greater priority than communicating with the creator of the universe.

It reminded me of Eutycus who fell into a deep sleep when Paul preached all night (Acts 20:7-12). Falling asleep whilst talking with God must be bad…because he fell from the 3rd floor and died!
No not really, he survived. the question is was it Paul who brought him back to life or was it the word of God that was living within him?

The Lord did take me to a couple of scriptures;

Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Mark 6:31
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."

So I'm ok with it

"Pray without Ceasing" - God desires relationship with us, and makes that way possible through reconciliation through Christ. On that basis, we continue to "walk with him" and "in him"

Now - as in any relationship that we develop, there are times for focussed attention (ie. not falling asleep and plummeting out the window), but there are also times of rest and security where all we are to do is to rest in our Saviour, and sleep knowing He is the one who holds our steps.

... but, just in case there is any risk there anyway - I wouldn't suggest sitting on a window sill of a multi-storey building while you pray. It could be hazardous.
